ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.  It will effect the whole world, but of interest to us, the EU(not the parliament yet) and Ireland(without the permission of the Dáil) but has yet to be ratified by both.  ACTA is bad for numerous reasons, it makes it a crime to break digital locks for any reason(there are quite a few legitimate ones), it makes your internet service provider legally responsible for anything you do online(this will mean less services for you) and it has no provision for fare use of copyright material.
